Governors

Lara Sinclair - Chair of Governors

My name is Lara Sinclair, I have been part of the Governing Body at Marlborough Primary for over 8 years.  I joined the governing body as a community governor whilst I was working in HM Naval Base, Devonport as the School has always had strong links with the Dockyard. My current role is Assistant Learning Manager for Sixth Form at Stoke Damerel Community College and Marlborough as one of our feeder schools I take great interest in when the year sixes are coming into SDCC.  Although I have only worked in education for six years I feel I am well qualified to support Marlborough in its continuing journey. My governor responsibilities at safeguarding and KS2.  I am married with one son, and am also a Cub Scout Leader.

Michael Shaw - Co-opted Community Governor

My name is Michael, as well as being a community Governor, I am the Minister of Devonport Community Baptist Church; I am also a Chaplain at Plymouth University and part of the Chaplaincy team at the UTC in Devonport. Prior to being a Minister I was a UK Marketing Manager, and then the Director of a small Charity. I am passionate about all forms of sport, especially Cricket and Rugby. I am also passionate about healthy eating and love to cook – but also eat! I enjoy being a Governor because it is a great way to serve the community I am in, to see children given the best start in life and to encourage teachers in their vocation.

Jackie Duggan - Community Governor

I was privileged to join the Governing Body of Marlborough Primary School in early 2015. Married for 26 years, I have an older son of 25. I have a civil service background, having worked for the Ministry of Defence in Devonport Naval Base for over 30 years. During that time I have gained professional qualifications in HR and Line Management and more recently, in Business and Administration. Part of my current NB role is Nursery Liaison Manager for the on-site childcare setting in HMS Drake, working with the professional childcare provider.

During my visits to the school it is clear to see that the children are happy and enthusiastic about their school and their learning. I am pleased to be part of a dedicated and strong team of governors supporting Rachel and the teaching body.
